Back Pew Brewing makes its home in the hallowed halls of an old church building, but don’t let that fool you into thinking our brewery is conventional. We chart our own course and venture into the beer-brewing unknown. We’re inspired by the unconventional, the strange, and the original. We aren’t afraid to brew boldly, and we never confine ourselves to the straight and narrow. We’re fueled by a passion to create damn good craft beer.

SEPTEMBER
TEXAS TWO SIP
Hazy IPA, 8% ABV, 80 IBU
This new IPA from us is as big and badass as Texas. A single malt beer, we rely on a native pilsner malt from Rahr malting for the base since we want to keep it simple. Then we dump loads of Citra, Mosaic, and Cascade hops on there because it’s delicious. Then a double dry hop for a bunch of aroma, and bam. Take one sip, and we guarantee you’ll go for a second… and probably another six pack.
KINGSBRAU
Festbier, 6.2% ABV, 22 IBU
Our festbier has been brewed specially to welcome Oktoberfest season! This straw-colored lager beer presents malt-forward and ready to be drank by the liter! It was brewed with Hallertau Blanc hops, which bring out a bright and grassy flavor on the pallet, reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc. Prost!

OUR STORY
Bobby Harl, PhD, MBA – Founder and Brewmaster
Bobby’s passion for brewing beer started in 2008 on a home-brew set, and only grew from there. While earning his PhD and MBA at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Bobby also worked with those who came to be his mentors, Steve Scoville and Michael Kwas, who started Little Harpeth Brewing Company. The experience gained at Little Harpeth helped Bobby develop a further appreciation for both the technical and artistic sides of brewing.
In 2014, Bobby returned home to Houston with a dream of crafting beers full of flavor, rich character, and building an awesome place for friends and family to enjoy them. Thus began Back Pew Brewing.
